Big Soda Lake
(Last Revised: 6/18/09)

Location:

Morrison, CO in Bear Creek Lake Park. Entrance is just east of C-470 on Morrison Road. Follow signs to the "Boat Rentals".

Launch Site:

Anywhere around the boat rental building. Grassy rigging area. Shore line varies from sand to mud to rock.

Lake Size:

80 Acres

Best Wind Direction:

NW, S, SE (N and SW are particularly bad)

General:

The morning NW thermals are famous. Great ambience (lots of shade and a great view of Red Rocks Amphitheater). No power boats allowed. Winds tend to be gusty. Close proximity of buildings and trees on N shore and the hogback on SW side really screw up the winds. This place is infamous for being able to do an out and back on the same tack.

Admission:

$5 per car. Season passes available. Colorado SP passes not good here.

Camping:

Available in the park, but is about two miles from the lake.
