Chatfield State Park
(Last Revised: 6/18/09)

Location:

Southern JeffCo, CO. Entrance is on South Wadsworth Avenue, south of C-470. Follow signs to the "Swim Beach".

Launch Site:

Immediately south of the swim beach (but you can launch most anywhere there is water access). Grassy rigging area. Shore line is sand.

Lake Size:

3,500 Acres

Best Wind Direction:

N, NE, E, SE, S (NW, W, and SW are particularly bad)

General:

Power boats allowed. South part of the lake is "no wake", beginning a couple hundred yards north of the swim beach. Close proximity of buildings and trees on W shore mess up the offshore winds. Close proximity of swim beach makes launch and return "challenging". Summer weekends get very busy with boat traffic.

Admission:

$6 per car. Season passes available. Colorado SP passes are good here.

Camping:

Available in the park, but is on the bluff on the other side of the lake.
